Bright Island

"Greenery" may be Pantone's 2017 Color of the year, but there's nothing trendy or fleeting about this space. The green dish display, checked ceiling, and lush island are timeless.

Garden View

The owners of this Catskills home coasted this bathroom's wainscoting in not one but two leafy shades of green: Cooking Apple Green and Breakfast Room Green. Here, the custom sink skirt, which features roses and ferns, conceals bathroom clutter. Trellis wallpaper continues the garden theme.

Perfectly Imperfect

When the owners of this New Hampshire farmhouse removed the wallpaper for this room's renovation, they were initially disappointed to see the green walls beneath, but they've grown to love the color and the age-old vibe.

Farmhouse Porch

The iron daybed on the front porch of this New York farmhouse makes the space comfortable and the family's preferred hangout. The green area rug contrasts the yellow chairs and helps the porch to blend into its beautiful surroundings.

Cozy Guest Retreat

To play up the snug dimensions of the guest room in this Victorian farmhouse, the homeowner covered the walls and trim with rich green paint. A four-poster spindle bed, outfitted with a striped wool blanket, creates a comfy room-within-a-room feel, while botanical curtains add softness and privacy.

Vintage Industrial

This chunky cedar bed offers rough-around-the-edges appeal to a darker palette of olives greens and deep brown. For a masculine touch, an antique leather surveyor's case rests at the edge of the bed frame. Old zinc Popsicle molds reside neatly beneath a footboard-bench and may pressed into service as vases.

Colorful Gingham

This inviting room offers traditional country charm with a few fresh updates. For a fresh, not fussy, approach, stick to one color scheme and balance large-scale prints (like the floral and gingham) with small ones (like the plaid and block print). The wall is painted green to compliment the pink gingham print on the bedding.

A Quick Fix

Cabinets from the 1930s get an easy update by adding beadboard doors plus new knobs and pulls. New green countertops contrast the stark white cabinets and add a fun color to the room.

Colorful Dining

In Beekman mansion in upstate New York, now owned by Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, a mismatched assortment of antiques-shop chairs surrounds a red-oak dining table Ridge built himself. Red and green are complimentary colors and contrast well in this decadent dining room.

Living History, Refined

The kitchen of this historial Catskills home features an oak table and mismatched chairs that are flea-market finds; the turn-of-the-century high chair (used by the couple's 18-month-old son, Charlton) is a hand-me-down from a friend. Wainscotting and window trims are painted green to add a fun touch to the room.

Equestrian Elegance

For the ultimate farmhouse-style breakfast room, this homeowner mixed a hefty trestle-base table with antique ladder-back and Windsor chairs and a polished nickel chandelier that evokes equestrian tack supply. The cabinets are painted a light shade of green to contrast the darker floors.

Nature-Inspired Vintage Florals

Cultivate an indoor vertical garden with a green rambling vine wallpaper. The small-scale pattern provides a muted enough backdrop for bolder statement pieces, like vintage metal trays featuring bold buds. A quartet of soft gray Windsor chairs and an heirloom-worthy pedestal table balance the pattern play on the walls.

Pops of Color

Subtle pops of green and blue, like the indigo print breakfast nook pillows, keep the dining room in this rural Connecticut farmhouse bright. The homeowner displays her collection of blue and green demijohn bottles on either side of the dining room table in built in shelves.

Bringing the Outside In

Inspired by the lush landscape just outside the windows (which were salvaged from an old train depot!), the homeowner of this 105-year-old Victorian farmhouse filled the dining room with rustic wood elements and pops of green. The Beech wishbone chairs, which are lacquered in an apple green, pop against the large antique hutch that stores the homeowner's collection of copper Moscow mule mugs and green and white china. A pale pink Oriental rug with subtle hints of sky blue and chartreuse rounds out the mix.

Light and Bright

The owner of this Orego n home purchased the sliding barn door as a kit from Barn Doors Hardware and painted it a custom chartreuse. She painted the ceilings Lemon Ice by Benjamin Moore. Reclaimed barn-wood flooring from LongHorn Lumber costs less than some laminates, while a kilim runner from World Market cozies up the entry hall.
